Community Outdoor Recreation and Environment Program (C.O.R.E.)
Dewdney Elementary School's CORE program is designed to motivate children to engage in their natural surroundings through an adventure and discovery-based curriculum. Our goal is to get kids outside discovering, inquiring and learning. Research increasingly supports the health, engagement, socialization and academic benefits of learning and interacting with the environment. Whether it is worm-composting, hiking, puddle-jumping, exploring aboriginal herbs, building snow caves, examining ecosystems under a microscope or gardening, children will have the opportunity to make connections between their outdoor experiences in the natural world and their classroom learning.
